I have had a few incidents myself so I am definitely talking from experience here.

If you are anything like me, then backing up is simply not a solution for you. The solution however, is called synchronizing.
Synchronizing is something that happens in the background. You don’t have to think about it, you don’t have to do anything. It just happens. Now that is what I call a solution!
I have been synchronizing my smart phone with my Google Apps account for a while now and it works seamlessly.
I am using an Android Smart Phone which makes it easy to synchronize my contacts with my Google Apps account.
Here is how it works…
I meet someone. I get their contact details. Add them to my phone’s address book. That’s it.
In the background, my phone synchronizes with my address book on the Internet.
If I lose my phone today, I won’t lose my contacts. There all on the Internet, waiting to be synchronized (or downloaded) onto my new Android phone.
Doing it this way means you will never lose your contacts again. Your contacts are synchronized.
